Train, Car, and Ferry Travel
Most travel agency sites, like Travelocity, will be more
than happy to help you find many different modes of
transportation besides flights. If you are driving or
traveling by train or ferry, however, you might need
some more specialized information and attention. If
you're planning to drive, there are numerous sites,
such as the various map sites (for example,
MapQuest, Yahoo! Local, and Manorama), that will
provide you with routes, directions, travel times and
other information. If you're taking a train or ferry,
you'll need timetables, accommodation information,
and other details that are often easier to find on the
Web than elsewhere.
Getting Cruises
If you haven't noticed, these days the cruises are
"hot" (or "cool," or de rigueur, if you like). But take it
from someone who was a skeptic: If you haven't been
on a cruise yet, chances are that when you come
home from your first one, you'll be contemplating
another one. There are lots of hot websites for
cruises, as with almost any hot topic. "Cruises," of
course, can mean much more than a holiday aboard
a gigantic (but amazing) 1,000-foot-long floating
resort. It can also mean a cruise down the Danube, a
week on a French barge or a trip aboard a
Mississippi paddle wheeler. But it might not be a
good idea in these times of global pandemic taking
cruises, as most of the cruises planned for the
summer have been cancelled and it would take a
few months before they start rolling again.
